Usher and Keke Palmer are making another splash across the internet. On August 16, the “Good Good” crooner unveiled his latest single, “Boyfriend,” accompanied by a music video shot in Las Vegas and featuring the “Nope” star Palmer.

Palmer joins Usher in a dynamic rendition of the song, harmonizing with lines like, “Word’s out, your boyfriend’s on the lookout for me / Oh, that’s fine, that’s fine / Well, he’ll soon realize I’m not hard to trace / Just follow his gaze whenever you grace.” In addition to the harmonious collaboration, the duo showcases their remarkable choreography, gracefully navigating a casino setting while dressed in coordinating attire.

Usher teased fans with a trailer on his social media platforms, sharing the enigmatic words, “When dreams transform into reality…” Building anticipation further, he continued the promotional push on August 16, tweeting, “In Vegas, secrets don’t remain secrets…” along with a link to the video. Keke Palmer also shared her excitement by posting a snippet of the video on Instagram, accompanied by a caption reflecting on the profound significance of the moment.

Usher and Palmer’s video makes its debut a couple of weeks after their electrifying moment that sent social media into a frenzy. During Usher’s Las Vegas residency on the Fourth of July weekend, he serenaded Palmer, also known as the “Big Boss” artist, captivating fans with their chemistry on stage. While their interaction drew widespread admiration, Palmer’s boyfriend, Darius Jackson, seemed less enthusiastic. He took to Twitter to express his discontent, directing criticism towards Palmer’s chosen attire for the occasion.

Both Palmer and Jackson have not formally addressed the online incident, except for Palmer’s nod to it through her “I’M A MOTHA” merchandise. Interestingly, Palmer appears to allude to the situation in Usher’s new video. In the concluding scene, she awakens in a hotel bed to a call about a missed performance, responding with a wry grin, “I’m so exhausted, I’m a motha after all.

Usher also shared his perspective in an August 4 interview with People magazine. Reflecting on the “pop moment,” the singer expressed that it was a topic worth discussing, noting, “I believe everyone’s interpretation or version of what unfolded there eventually leads back to simply enjoying a great time in Las Vegas. That’s what I hope people took from it, whether it was a discussion about our onstage fun or a conversation about the song itself.

Usher also shared, “Every night I’m thinking about how the world now is going to react to this moment that I’ll have with whoever I’m choosing to sing to . . . it was fun to have at least conversation going and we just keep it light. I don’t see anything negative happening in Las Vegas.
