On Wednesday, the Hoover Police Department conducted a press conference to disclose the findings of their investigation into the Carlee Russell case.

Building upon the statement released on Tuesday (July 18), the investigation has brought to light profoundly shocking details related to the case.

Below, we have highlighted a few of these details revealed about Carlee.

She Took Items from her Job

At around 8:20 p.m. on July 13, Carlee departed from her workplace.

Surveillance footage from her place of employment captured Carlee concealing a dark-colored bathrobe, a roll of toilet paper, and various other items before leaving.

She Purchased Snacks from Target

After picking her food from The Colonnade, Carlee proceeded to Target on Highway 280, where she bought granola bars and Cheez-Its. She lingered in the Target parking lot until 9:21 p.m. before heading to I-459.

She Witnessed Seeing the Alleged Toddler Walking Along the Highway

Carlee was on the phone until she call 911 for assistance at 9:34 PM

In her 911 call, Carlee Russell informed the dispatcher that she spotted a young White boy, approximately 3 or 4 years old, walking along the highway. According to her description, the child was dressed in a white t-shirt and wearing only a diaper.

Hoover PD revealed that data obtained from Carlee Russell’s phone, including her Life360 app, indicated that she covered a distance of approximately 600 yards (equivalent to 6 football fields) while on the phone with 911, as she diligently followed the toddler she had reported.

She Disappeared

Approximately 5 minutes after being dispatched, officers arrived at the scene and discovered Carlee’s wig and cell phone lying in the grass near the vehicle.

Inside her vehicle, Carlee’s purse was found, containing her Apple Watch along with the food she had picked up from The Colonnade. However, the items she had concealed from work and the snacks she purchased from Target were nowhere to be found.

Carlee Returns Home

After being missing for more than 49 hours, Carlee made her way back to her parent’s home on foot on Saturday night at around 10:45 p.m.

Detectives obtained surveillance footage from Carlee’s neighborhood, capturing her walking alone along the sidewalk before reaching her residence.

Fire Department radio communications obtained by various media outlets indicate that medics were dispatched to her home regarding an “unresponsive but breathing person.”

Upon arrival, first responders found Ms. Russell conscious and speaking. She was taken to a nearby hospital in that condition, where she received treatment and was later discharged.

So, What Happened?

Carlee Russell recounted to detectives her harrowing experience while traveling when she spotted a small child and immediately called 911.

Upon approaching the child, a man emerged from the trees, claiming to be checking on the baby. However, he then forcibly lifted Carlee, leading to her desperate cries for help.

The man coerced her to cross a fence and forcibly placed her into a car, with her next memory being in the trailer of an 18-wheeler. Carlee mentioned that the male was accompanied by an unseen female whose voice she heard. Throughout the ordeal, she could hear a baby crying.

Carlee provided a description of her abductor, a male with orange hair and a noticeable bald spot on the back of his head. She managed to escape the 18-wheeler temporarily, only to be recaptured and confined in another car. Although blindfolded, she was not tied up to avoid leaving marks on her wrists.

She recounted being taken to a house where she was coerced into undressing. Carlee suspected that photographs were taken, although she couldn’t recall any physical or sexual contact.

The following day, she woke up to find herself fed cheese crackers by the female abductor, who also played with her hair. Her memory from that point became hazy.

Eventually, Carlee managed to escape from her captors’ vehicle in the West Hoover area. She ran through extensive woods until she reached a location near her home.

Carlee Russell suffered a minor lip injury and mentioned that her head was in pain following the traumatic events.

In addition, Carlee had a tear on her shirt, and surprisingly, $107 cash was discovered in her right sock.

Out of consideration for her well-being, detectives chose not to push Carlee for further details at the moment, assuring her they would take another statement when the time was right.

Internet Searches Revealed with Cell Phone Data

The Hoover Police Department sought assistance from the United States Secret Service to conduct a thorough analysis. The retrieved data contained several internet searches leading up to Carlee’s disappearance.

The recorded internet searches made by Carlee were as follows:

– On July 11, at 7:30 a.m. – “Do you have to pay for an Amber Alert?”

– On July 13, at 1:03 a.m. – “How to take money from a register without being caught?”

– On July 13, at 2:13 a.m. – “Birmingham bus station”

– On July 13, at 2:35 a.m. – “One way bus ticket from Birmingham to Nashville with July 13 departure”

Carlee Russell conducted these searches using the computer at her workplace. Additionally, searches related to Carlee’s mental state were discovered but not disclosed out of respect for her family’s privacy.
