Chris Tucker, a renowned comedian, announced his first stand-up tour in more than a decade on Thursday.
Named “The Legends Tour,” this 30-date run will take Tucker, aged 51, across the nation. The tour will start on September 8 in Charleston, South Carolina, and will hit a number of cities including Memphis, Oakland, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Baltimore, Houston, New York, and Chicago, ending in Detroit in January 2024.
Tucker said in a statement, “I started my career doing stand-up in comedy clubs and it’s stand-up comedy that prepared me for all of my movie roles. I’m looking forward to getting back to my roots. I love performing live, there’s nothing like the energy of a live crowd and making people laugh. I’m excited to be back out on tour.”
Chris Tucker’s started his career as a stand-up comedian. And later channeled his skills into acting, where he emerged as a prominent figure in the late 1990s and early 2000s box office scene. He is most known for his appearances in movies such as Friday, The Fifth Element, Jackie Brown, Dead Presidents, and the celebrated Rush Hour trilogy.
Despite his success, Tucker has kept a low profile in Hollywood in recent years. He has only appeared in three films over the past 15 years: 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, 2016’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, and his most recent venture, 2023’s Air.
