A documentary is currently being developed to shed light on the life of the renowned rapper, the Notorious B.I.G. However, this time around, it is his son who will be sharing the narrative.

Produced by Time Studios, the documentary titled “Understanding Christopher Wallace” aims to provide “an intimate look at the untold life story of one of the greatest rappers to ever live… from the perspective of the son who never knew him.”

C.J. Wallace, the only child of the rapper and R&B singer Faith Evans, was born in October 1996. Tragically, he was just five months old when his father was fatally shot in Los Angeles, California, in March 1997.

Time Studios reveals that the upcoming documentary delves into profound themes of identity, legacy, and parenthood. It seamlessly transitions between the lives of Christopher Jr. and Sr., spanning from the 2020s to the 1980s. As C.J. Wallace embarks on a personal quest to better comprehend his own destiny, he unveils a previously unseen and comprehensive portrayal of his father.

While speaking on the project, C.J. Wallace said,Over the past few years, I realized my personal journey is connected to understanding who Christopher George Latore Wallace was outside of his big rap persona. I am on a journey to fully understand the world he lived in and the massive impact he had on American and Black history and by doing so, I can ensure that I honor his hopes and dreams while I build and create my own legacy for future generations of Wallaces.

Joining in conversations with C.J. are notable figures such as Faith Evans, Lil Kim, Jadakiss, and Lil Cease.

During the 1990s, the late Notorious B.I.G. achieved tremendous success with the release of his multi-platinum albums, “Ready to Die” and “Life After Death,” the latter hitting the shelves a mere 16 days after his tragic assassination. Recognized for his influential contributions, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. Notorious B.I.G. is renowned for his chart-topping hits, including “Juicy,” “Big Poppa,” “Hypnotize,” and “Mo Money, Mo Problems.”

Loren Hammonds, head of documentary at Time Studios, said, “The Notorious B.I.G. had such an immense impact on not only music, but also on popular culture as a whole. But this film is about so much more than that. It’s about fatherhood, loss, and love. It’s incredibly special to be able to let audiences learn about the man behind the myth through C.J.’s eyes, and we’re very proud to play a part in carrying on Christopher Wallace’s inimitable legacy.”

Vikram Gandhi, the acclaimed director known for his notable work on “Trigger Warning with Killer Mike,” has joined the film as its director and added, “It’s an honor to document C.J.’s personal odyssey to understand his father and to create a deeper and more definitive film about the man behind the persona Notorious B.I.G., Christopher Wallace.”
