Actor Jamie Foxx is back in action with a new endeavor, following his hospitalization nearly three months ago.
Recent reports reveal that Jamie Foxx will take on the role of producer for an upcoming documentary that explores the remarkable life and career of the iconic singer Luther Vandross.
Notably, Colin Firth is also onboard as a producer for this groundbreaking project, which marks the first-ever documentary dedicated to the late Luther Vandross, a multi-Grammy Award winner who passed away in 2005 at the age of 54. Adding to the talent behind the camera, the award-winning documentary filmmaker Dawn Porter will serve as the director for this highly anticipated documentary.
In a statement, Jamie Foxx said of the R&B singer, “Luther is one of our GOATs. He’s one of the greatest singers in the history of music. It is truly an honor to be a part of the team to help bring this incredible story to the masses.”
According to reports, Luther Vandross initially embarked on his career by lending his vocals as a backup singer for renowned artists such as Roberta Flack, Chaka Khan, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, and David Bowie. Over the course of his musical journey, he amassed an impressive collection of accomplishments, including eight Grammy Awards and the sale of 40 million albums worldwide. Notably, at the 2004 Grammy Awards, the esteemed artist received four prestigious accolades, one of which was the Song of the Year award for his heartfelt and timeless hit, “Dance With My Father.”
The documentary has obtained the approval of Luther Vandross’ intimate circle of family and friends. Notably, the film will offer viewers an exclusive glimpse into the artist’s private life through access to his previously unreleased personal archive, as reported. The documentary aims to chronicle the journey of this iconic figure as he paved his own path, ultimately establishing himself as one of the most revered and impactful pop artists in history. Additionally, the project aims to capture the artist’s profound love for music, his remarkable ascent to global stardom, as well as his personal battles and challenges.
Director Dawn Porter expressed her thoughts on the project, “Like so many, I have always loved Luther’s music, but I had no idea of the breadth and scope of his artistry. I think people will be surprised at how much he accomplished in his tragically short life. It is a joy to be able to share his true story.”
It’s worth mentioning that Jamie Foxx has made a few public appearances lately, following his health scare in April. The entertainer took a step back from the public eye after being hospitalized, and although specific details about his condition have not been disclosed, he seems to be getting back into the groove.

After that, Jamie Foxx was seen engaging in a round of golf at a Topgolf driving range. According to an eyewitness who spoke to TMZ, Foxx exhibited exceptional skills, outperforming his competitors. The source further mentioned that Foxx displayed a powerful swing and emerged victorious in the game.
In a more recent sighting, the 55-year-old comedian extended his assistance to a fan in need. As the story goes, a woman was traveling on a pedicab in downtown Chicago when she accidentally misplaced her purse. Coincidentally, Jamie Foxx’s chauffeur-driven SUV was nearby.
