As part of her Renaissance Scholars program, Beyoncé follows through on her commitment to giving back. The renowned entertainer previously disclosed her intentions to donate $1 million in scholarships to colleges along her Renaissance tour route, and she has now made good on that promise.

On Tuesday, July 25, just one day before her performance at Ford Field Stadium in Detroit, Beyoncé’s BeyGood foundation awarded $100,000 in scholarship funding to ten fortunate students at the Detroit School for Digital Technology. This remarkable act of generosity marks another significant milestone in her ongoing efforts to support education and empower young minds through the Renaissance Scholars initiative.

A rep for Beyoncé told sources, “We were delighted to spend the morning with the Detroit School for Digital Technology and announce that @dsdttech will receive $100K in Renaissance scholarship funds to support students with financial need.”

In 2017, the southwest Detroit school, known for its offerings in digital marketing and business technology, opened its doors. The institution had the honor of hosting a visit from Joe Biden, adding a memorable moment to its history.

Beyoncé’s philanthropic endeavors have not been limited to the Detroit School for Digital Technology alone. In 2016, she demonstrated her commitment to making a difference in Michigan by donating $82,000 for water relief efforts in Flint. This generous contribution also included funds contributed by her fans during the Formation World Tour, showcasing the power of collective efforts to bring about positive change.

Furthermore, the talented “Cuff it” singer has ambitious plans to contribute $1 million towards 1,000 small business grants during her Renaissance tour. As part of this initiative, BeyGOOD will organize luncheons for entrepreneurs in each city, allowing them the opportunity to compete for the grants the day before Beyoncé’s scheduled concert. This empowering effort aims to support and uplift small businesses, fostering growth and innovation within local communities.

In 2013, Beyoncé established BeyGood during her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. Since its inception, the foundation has made impactful contributions to various causes, including supporting education, providing disaster relief, addressing food, water, and housing security, promoting mental health resources, and fostering career development both in the United States and internationally.

In a heartfelt statement, the entertainer expressed, “I am hugely proud of the work we have done over a decade at BeyGOOD, here in the US and around the world. From scholarships to the water crisis in Burundi, to helping families during Hurricane Harvey in my hometown, Houston, it has been beyond fulfilling to be of service.”

She continued, “Now, as a foundation, we will continue the work of engaging partners through innovative programs to impact even more people.”
